FAQ

  • What is enamel?
Enameling is the process of adding powdered glass to the surface of a metal and heating it until it is molten. When it cools, it leaves a layer of glass on the surface of the metal.
  • How do I care for my enamel piece?
An enamel component is glass on metal and though it is durable, it can crack if dropped or stressed. Care should be taken to make sure it is not pinched or bent when encorporating into a jewelry design. I recommend putting enamel jewelry on over carpet so that if it is accidently dropped it is less likely to break. Use dish soap to clean if needed.
  • What metal do you enamel on?
The majority of my components are enameled on 24 gauge copper.
